Sibiu-Agnita railway
Since 2006, The Flour Mill is providing support and know-how for the restoration of the Sibiu to Agnita narrow gauge railway in Transylvania, central Romania.
Run entirely by volunteers, the railway links the tourist bustling city of Sibiu, former European Capital of Culture in 2007, to the rural areas along the Hârtibaciu Valley, pasing through pastures and farmland, at the feet of the snowcapped Carpathian mountains.
Abandoned by the state railway company back in 2001, the railway has been saved from scrapping by being listed as a historical monument. However, its revival faces many challenges, especially in a country like Romania, hence the need for advice from abroad is signifiant.
